Ground handler Menzies Aviation today announced it has been awarded the IATA CEIV Pharma accreditation for its cargo facility at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) recognised certification is awarded to companies in the air cargo supply chain that demonstrate compliance with the IATA Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma) standards.
The announcement underlines Menzies’ capabilities in handling high-value, time-sensitive, and temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products, ensuring the integrity and quality of all shipments, the ground handler said.
Miguel Gomez-Sjunnesson, executive vice president for Europe at Menzies Aviation, said: “Receiving the IATA CEIV Pharma accreditation is testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence in air cargo services, and recognition of our dedication to ensuring the utmost quality and integrity in every step of the supply chain journey.
“We’re delighted that Amsterdam joins the list of Menzies’ CEIV Pharma approved facilities. At a time when our cargo network is expanding globally, it’s important that our facilities and processes meet the high standards of pharmaceutical handling that this accreditation demands.”
With a team of 250 employees, the 37,000 m2 warehouse at Schiphol airport handles approximately 300,000 tonnes of cargo each year. Prior to being awarded the certification, Menzies implemented a series of IT upgrades to ensure all relevant pharmaceutical checklists were digitised and correct handling was guaranteed.
This ensures all Menzies operations meet the industry’s need for compliance, standardisation, accountability and transparency across the air transport supply chain.
Schiphol airport is the fifth Menzies facility to be awarded this prestigious accreditation, joining Sydney, Melbourne, London Heathrow and Budapest airports.
