Jewers’ contour doors increase ground handling and aircraft productivity

Jewers Doors, designer and manufacturer of industrial doors and aircraft hangar doors solutions, has recently completed the installation of four sets of specialised contour doors for Airbus.

The installation was for two models of Beluga Transporter aircraft, the ST and the most recent addition, the XL. Each main door is fitted with two different contour doors, designed to suit individual aircraft type.

Jonathan Jewers, director for Jewers Doors, said: “The complex bulbous shape of the Beluga’s fuselage—hence the aircraft’s name—requires special doors to achieve an environmental seal around the aircraft during ground handling operations.”

The company have already installed contour doors for the A320, B737, C17, A400M and Beluga ST/XL in the UK, France, Germany and Bulgaria. Mr Jewers said he expects further orders for its range of contour doors worldwide.

The UK and Dubai-based company delivers door solutions for all airside requirements. The doors are fitted with multiple safety features through similar controls to Jewers Doors’ Esavian aircraft hangar doors (as seen in feature image).

The company will be exhibiting at the Aviation Week MRO Americas show in Atlanta, from April 9 to 11, at booth 4842.
