SSP opens Edinburgh Airport’s first Burger King

SSP Group PLC, a leading operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, is launching the first Burger King at Edinburgh Airport.

The restaurant will feature the latest technology, including self-service kiosks for customers to place orders on digital screens before collecting at the till, and a children’s interactive wall to keep youngsters entertained – a first for the UK market. The new concession offers passengers Burger King’s full menu.

Simon Smith, CEO of SSP UK & Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to announce the opening of our first Burger King unit at Edinburgh Airport, which will offer greater choice and service to both local and international travelers. This is our 30th Burger King restaurant to launch in the UK and reflects our ongoing commitment to the brand and to providing our customers with the best offers from the most renowned names in food and beverage.”

Burger King coming to Edinburgh Airport

At Edinburgh Airport, which is Scotland’s busiest airport and welcomed 13.4 million passengers last year, SSP currently operates M&S Simply Food and Starbucks. This will be SSPs first move into the Edinburgh airside operation and forms part of EDIs wider redevelopment programme.

Gail Taylor, Director of Retail and Property at Edinburgh Airport, said: “One of the brands passengers have continuously mentioned they want to see at Edinburgh Airport is Burger King, so we’ve listened and are delighted to deliver that for them.

“Quality and variety are key considerations for us when we look at our food and beverage options and we’re always looking to offer greater choice, something which our new terminal expansion will allow us to do and we look forward to announcing more new outlets soon.”

Among SSPs extensive portfolio of more than 500 international, national, and local brands, are local heroes such as Brioche Dorée in Paris, LEON in London, and Hung’s Delicacies in Hong Kong.
